Be Quiet and Drive
The Deftones gig at The Point earlier this week was superb. It was my third time seeing them live, and they’re my favourite band. I’ve been listening to them since 1998 or 1999, when I was still in school. At the time, I’d begun to appreciate music more, and it was on the cusp of the nu-metal emergence. Deftones were bundled in with that genre, although they’re not nu-metal; they’re alternative metal and have evolved over their thirty-eight-year existence. The big takeaway, aside from Chino bouncing around on stage like a twenty-year-old, was seeing so many young metalheads! It was so cool seeing the teenage skinhead in front of me go ballistic when 7words came on at the end of the set, a track from the Adrenaline album, released over thirty years ago. Lots of dads were at the gig with their kids, and hopefully, the band will be going when my kids are teenagers, so give or take another 15 years ^^
